We use continual improvement in ITIL but continuous integration in DevOps.

Both are different.

According to dictionary, continuous means without disruption

To ensure speedy delivery of software, integration & delivery needs to happen without any disruption hence it is used as Continuous Integration & Continuous Delivery in DevOps.

According to dictionary, continual means a sequence of events happening periodically.

So there could be stabilization periods in between events where we verify the impact or worthiness of improvement events. Without a stabilization period after improvements, SLA and business continuity may be impacted if improvement goes wrong.
